ABOUT TENAMBIT BUTCHERY
Our Story - so far...
The Tenambit Butchery story began 5 generations ago, when the Unicomb’s started out as purveyors of fine quality meats in England. Since then, and over the generations, the Unicomb’s have owned and ran butcher shops right across the Hunter New England region. With shops stretching from Taree, through to Paterson, Morpeth and East Maitland, the Unicomb’s are certainly dedicated and passionate about bringing fine quality produce to the tables of thousands of people over the last 5 generations.
Continuing the family tradition, the now owner of Tenambit Butchery - Rod Unicomb, began his apprenticeship at his father - Kevin “Butch” Unicomb’s shop at Morpeth. Soon after, Rod took over the running of the Tenambit Butchery with his wife Tanya, and they have been running it together as a family-owned and operated local business for over 18 years.
Rod’s grandfather Leighton was a famous butcher in the Hunter and had a real knack for producing the best tasting sausages in the region. This well-kept family secret recipe is the recipe that Rod still uses for his sausages today – and they are just as popular as ever!
Coming into the shop at Tenambit, you will be met with a big smile, a booming voice and a hearty g’day! Rod and Tanya love a good yarn with their customers and are extremely passionate about supporting their community.
